As a Waking Night Senior SEN Support Worker at Henshaws College in Harrogate

,

you will play a key leadership role in delivering safe, high-quality overnight care for young people aged 16 to 25 with complex needs and disabilities. Working in partnership with a second senior team member, you will lead and support a team of waking night staff across the campus. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the smooth operation of overnight care, responding promptly and effectively to emergencies, administering medication, carrying out clinical interventions, and ensuring adequate staff cover during breaks.



This role is ideal for someone with experience in care who is ready to lead a team and ensure compassionate, person-centred support is consistently delivered. You will play a vital role in helping our students enjoy a safe and positive residential experience while away from home, supporting their independence and wellbeing during the night.




Your work will directly contribute to Henshaws' mission by helping students feel safe, supported and empowered every day.




Salary: 14.34 per hour weekday nights and 15.84 per hour weekend nights (Friday-Sunday)



Overtime paid at an additional 1.50 per hour



Hours per week: 30 hours



Weeks per Year: 52



Holiday: 5 weeks plus 10 day bank holiday allowance



Closing Date: 18th August 2025 at 12 noon



Requirements:

We are looking for someone who is confident leading others and committed to providing high-quality care. You will need to be organised, calm under pressure and ready to handle a range of overnight responsibilities, from staff supervision to responding to emergencies.



You should have:

Experience mentoring, supervising or managing care staff A good understanding of dignity and respect in personal care A Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care, and a need to complete Level 3 within two years The ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team A flexible and proactive approach, including attending training outside of usual shift hours


It is also helpful if you have:

Experience supporting people with learning disabilities, autism or behavioural needs Knowledge of safeguarding and health and safety practices Awareness of equal opportunities and inclusive care
