Job Description

Due to the continued growth of our children's residential care services, we are seeking 1 x Waking Nights Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner's to join our compassionate and dedicated team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who shares our commitment to trauma-informed, child-centred care - and who is excited by the prospect of joining a service that truly values both its young people and its staff.

We are opening a brand-new therapeutic home in November 2025.

About the Role:

As a Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner, you'll play a central role in supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs, helping them to feel safe, valued, and understood. Every interaction matters - whether you're supporting a young person through a difficult day, joining in with creative play, or helping build routines and relationships.

You will work as part of a small, trauma-informed team to provide consistent, nurturing care and to create an environment that feels like home. Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the young people in our care will be at the heart of everything you do.

The role follows a 3 on/ 3 off rota pattern.

About You:

We're looking for someone who is:

Warm, compassionate, and resilient Able to build strong relationships with children who may have experienced trauma, loss, or neglect A reflective practitioner who is open to learning and growth Calm under pressure, with a good sense of humour and team spirit Committed to promoting equality, dignity, and respect in all interactions
Essential Requirements:

Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults (this could include personal, voluntary, or paid experience) Willingness to work towards a Level 4 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or equivalent) Basic knowledge of therapeutic or trauma-informed approaches Excellent written and verbal communication skills IT literacy and ability to write clear, meaningful records Full UK manual driving licence Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends, evenings, and sleep-ins Enhanced DBS and reference checks (undertaken prior to appointment)
Key Responsibilities:

Provide day-to-day care and emotional support to young people in line with their care plans Support therapeutic routines, boundaries, and consistent relationship-based care Contribute to care planning, key working, and reflective team practice Transport young people to appointments, education, and activities Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with colleagues, families, and professionals
Interviews to take place week commencing 11/08/2025

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent, Zero hours contract

Pay: 23,920.00-27,920.00 per year
