Waking Watch Healthcare Support Workers
to join our team in providing overnight support to young adults (16-25) with complex health needs, learning disabilities, and other healthcare requirements in a residential setting.
This role is vital in maintaining safety, monitoring clinical needs, and ensuring a calm and supportive environment through the night.
Key Responsibilities:
Active Overnight Monitoring:
Conduct regular wellbeing and safety checks throughout the night, maintaining a visible and supportive presence.
Health Observation:
Monitor for signs of medical distress, mental health escalation, or changes in condition, escalating to clinical or emergency services when necessary.
Incident Management:
Respond promptly and appropriately to medical, behavioural, or safeguarding incidents using established procedures and risk management plans.
Medication Awareness:
Ensure proper protocols are followed regarding any overnight medication administration or health-related interventions (in line with support plans and training).
Environmental & Fire Safety:
Perform security and fire safety checks, ensuring a safe environment is maintained for all residents.
Record Keeping:
Accurately document observations, incidents, and overnight activities in line with CQC and safeguarding standards.
Professional Liaison:
Provide clear, comprehensive handovers to day staff and report concerns to healthcare professionals as required.
About You:
Experience:
Previous experience in healthcare, supported living, or residential care is highly desirable, especially involving vulnerable or high-risk individuals.
Skills:
Strong observational, interpersonal, and de-escalation skills with a calm, confident approach to managing complex behaviours and clinical risk.
Availability:
Ability to work
waking night shifts
(e.g. 8pm-8am) on a rota basis, including weekends and public holidays. 4 on 4 off.
Training:
Familiarity with safeguarding, basic life support, and health & safety practices. Medication awareness training is beneficial (training can be provided).
