Hours:

4 per week

12 months (fixed term)

North Manchester (local free parking available)

Salary:

15-18 per hour (depending on experience)

Role Purpose



To support the planning, delivery, and coordination of weekly community walks and related wellbeing activities. The role will help engage local older people in physical activity, reduce isolation, and encourage healthier lifestyles, particularly within bereaved and minority communities.

Key Responsibilities



Lead and support weekly group walks, ensuring they are safe, inclusive, and welcoming. Encourage participation, motivate group members, and provide a friendly point of contact. Assist in planning walk routes and activities that are suitable for different abilities. Carry out basic risk assessments of routes and report any concerns. Promote the walks and activities to community members through word-of-mouth, flyers, and social media (with support from the team). Keep accurate records of attendance and participant feedback for monitoring and reporting purposes. Work collaboratively with volunteers and community partners to expand the reach of the programme. Support participants with additional needs where appropriate (e.g., signposting to other services). Uphold safeguarding, health & safety, and equality & diversity policies at all times.

Person Specification



Essential



Friendly, approachable, and able to engage with people from diverse backgrounds. Reliable and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Interest in health, wellbeing, and physical activity. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Basic organisational skills to manage records and attendance. Commitment to inclusion, equality, and the values of the charity.

Desirable



Previous experience leading groups or community activities. First aid training. Knowledge of local walking routes in Manchester especially North Manchester or knowledge of local walk
Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 12 months

Pay: 15.00-18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 4 per week
