The Ward Clerk will give efficient clerical assistance to the Unit. The provision of an efficient clerical service is essential to ensure the speedy admission, discharge, and transfer of patients.
By the nature of the duties, the Ward Clerk will be required to maintain strict confidentiality and will be expected to deal with patients and relatives with courtesy and discretion at all times.
Processing of statutory documentation in relation to the Mental Health Act.
Processing of ward documentation e.g. Admissions and Discharges.
Processing of CTP/WPAS documentation, including co-ordination of reviews.
Maintain case notes in good condition.
Ensure case notes have sufficient blank pages with patient identification labels attached.
Filing of results in case notes, including those case notes tracked to 'out of ward' areas.
Maintain appropriate manual/computerised systems and update as required.
Co-ordination the completion of daily menu sheets.
Photocopying of appropriate documentation as directed.
Return notes of discharged patients as appropriate.
Undertake clinical coding as directed.
Answer telephones and relay messages and enquiries in a timely manner.
Monitor and maintain stationery supplies.
Handling of patient's property at the request of the Nurse Manager and liaising closely with General Office to ensure safe keeping of said items.
