We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 7 ward manager to join and lead the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU) at Pilgrim hospital Boston, part of United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
As the ward manager, you will be responsible for the operational and clinical management of the Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU). You will lead by example, ensuring excellent standards of neonatal care, patient safety and staff development. this is a key leadership role that requires vision, compassion and clinical credibility.
SCBU at Pilgrim Hospital provides Level 1 Neonatal care, supporting babies who are premature or require additional support after birth. Our dedicated team of neonatal nurses and medical staff work closely with families to deliver safe, effective and family centred care. The Unit works in close partnership with the Level 2 Neonatal Unit at Lincoln County Hospital, offering a cohesive and collaborative approach to neonatal care across the county. Together, we are part of the East Midlands Neonatal Operational Delivery Network, enabling strong regional links and clear pathways for babies and families.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide strong clinical leadership to nursing and support staff
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based neonatal care
  • Lead on governance, audits, risk management and service improvement
  • Support staff development, training and performance management
  • Maintain excellence working relationships with the wider maternity and paediatric teams

United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust has been granted teaching hospital status, after demonstrating evidence to significant teaching commitment. From now on it will be known as United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
Pilgrim Hospital is situated in beautiful countryside and serves the communities in the South Lincolnshire area. It provides all major specialties and a 24-hour major accident and emergency service.
Grantham and District Hospital serves the communities of Grantham and the local area. It provides ambulatory paediatric and accident and emergency services.
Lincolnshire Community Health Services NHS Trust (LCHS) and United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust (ULHT) have come together in a Group arrangement, with the goal of improving the care provided to patients across the county.
This will not constitute a formal merger of the two organisations, but will bring the Trusts together under a single Board and Executive Leadership Team, with the goal of improving the care that is provided to patients both in the community and in hospitals across Lincolnshire. Both Trusts will retain their separate statutory names and legal obligations.
The Group will be known as Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group (LCHG).

  • Current First Level Registered Nurse/RSCN or equivalent.
  • NMC registered
  • Neonatal Intensive Care post registration qualification
  • Hold current NLS provider certificate.
  • Educated to degree level or relevant experience equivalent to this. Evidence of continuing professional development
  • Evidence of a good command of written and spoken English
Desirable
  • Management or Leadership Qualification
Previous experience

  • Extensive experience in neonatal nursing at
  • Band 6 or above
  • Evidence of teaching in clinical practice.
