Our Maternity Services, based at our Women's Hospital, is a leading Perinatal Centre and one of the largest centres in the UK. We are the designated Fetal Medicine Centre, for the West Midlands and Wales Therefore, we care for women and babies with very complex needs, who need more than standard maternity care. We deliver outstanding care to some of the West Midlands sickest babies from 22 weeks gestation. We are host to the West Midlands Human Milk Bank and we serve a maternity department supporting the births of approximately 8,000 babies per annum.
We are looking for an experienced midwife to provide inspirational leadership and management for our Intrapartum Service, based in our Women's Hospital. This is a fixed term post for 12 months to provide maternity leave cover. There will be potential for a substantive Band 6 role for external candidates once the secondment is complete, alongside any other opportunities that may arise during this time. The successful candidate will be part of our dynamic intrapartum leadership team, and able to support the Matron. They will be part of managing the clinical front facing team, the daily operational issues to ensure safe and outstanding care for women in the intrapartum period. This extends from, delivery Suite and our Induction Suite, and cross cover for the Triage and Birth Centre manager. There will be very close relationships with our dependent services at all stages of the pregnancy and with our Neonatal Unit, our children's specialty services at our Children's Hospital and our Hub and Spoke centers. Outstanding communication skill is required to ensure good working relationships with a wide-ranging multidisciplinary team and families.
