Warehouse Assistant

Chepstow Garden Centre

Working Pattern:

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8am - 4pm

Be available to cover when the warehouse manager is on annual leave.

We are currently looking for a

Warehouse Assistant

to work alongside the Warehouse Manager, this is a hands-on role where you will be responsible for the smooth and efficient process of all incoming stock, storage control and credits. Accuracy is essential and the ability to work with others and under pressure as part of a team or individually is paramount.

Your aim is to ensure the highest standards of service, housekeeping and performance are achieved.

To be available for duties across the whole of the garden centre as required.

This job entails lifting so good physical fitness is essential.

Experience of working in a similar warehouse position or stock control preferred but not essential.

Main Duties/Tasks:

Unload deliveries using a forklift (licence preferred but not essential as training would be provided). Process and book in deliveries ready for the shop floor ensuring all stock is delivered and in good order, processing credit claims for any damaged or shortages. Organise storage of stock and keep in good order ready to replenish the shop floor. Liaise with department Heads to ensure they are kept up to date on stock availability. Liaise with accounts on processing credits and ensuring we claim for any shortages or damages. Maintain warehouse and yard ensuring they are kept clean and tidy ensuring all company health and safety practices are followed. Check all company vehicles, this includes forklift and delivery vans are in good working order. Organise customer deliveries and schedules of drivers.

Requirements:

Previous warehouse experience in a similar role preferred. Good Communicator. Flexible with working hours due to the nature of the business. Health and Safety Conscious. The position will require a lot of heavy lifting. Forklift licence preferred but not essential.

Salary and Company Benefits:

Starting salary exceeds age related minimum wage up to 12.30 per hour. 28 days annual leave including paid Bank Holidays, pro-rata basis for part-time employees. Uniform and safety shoes will be provided. Discounted rates on food and drink in our restaurant whilst working. In store staff discount after completion of a successful probation.
