We are seeking a dedicated, reliable and hardworking Warehouse Operative to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for various tasks within the warehouse environment, ensuring efficient operations and maintaining high standards of safety and quality, with a basic understanding of residential electrical installations. This role requires physical stamina and the ability to work in a fast-paced setting, handling materials and stock effectively.
You will support and assist the Contract Managers / Buyer with regards to managing the stores and supplying all necessary materials to sub-contractors.
Duties
1) Accurately monitor, control and requisition all stock within the warehouse on a daily basis ensuring materials are kept at required level. Daily updates to Buyer on any stock which is running low
2) Pick electrical goods on a daily basis for sub- contractors as instructed by the contract managers in line with kit lists supplied
3) Acceptance of daily deliveries by forklift and manual unloading ensuring goods received are in line with delivery paperwork provided, notifying the supplier/manager if all goods not received
4) Loading and unloading of subcontractors vehicles on a daily basis
5) Store all goods received speedily and accurately on a daily basis in relevant areas/shelves
6) Ensure the warehouse is kept clean and tidy in line with health and safety requirements
7) Maintain the material handling/forklift trucks on a daily basis, ensuring the forklift is charged daily
8) Ensure fire exit doors are unlocked and locked at correct times of day i.e. open and close of business
9) Performing vehicle checks on company vehicles as and when instructed
10) Ensure all cable is booked out to the relevant electrician in the log
11) Any other ad-hoc duties as requested, such as collection and delivery of vehicles to repair appointments, trips to manage disposal, collection of urgent stock from local suppliers.
Requirements
A full UK driving license is required
Previous experience in a warehouse environment is preferred but not mandatory.
Strong capability for some heavy lifting, with a focus on safety practices.
Basic electrical knowledge to assist with equipment handling and maintenance tasks.
Proficient in materials handling techniques to ensure efficient stock management.
Experience in picking, packing, administering, and receiving processes is desirable.
Valid forklift certification is preferred; training will be provided for suitable candidates.
Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also being self-motivated to complete tasks independently.
