Job Description

Warehouse Operator/Fork Lift Driver
Part of a team responsible for the preparation, storing and loading of finished goods in line with customer (internal or external) requirements. Operating flexibly across all areas of the Despatch department in line with business and customer demands. Acting in accordance with DS Smith values in every aspect of the role.
Health & SafetyAccountable for own safety and responsible the safety of others always by working in compliance with the law, group and site policies and procedures. Using company procedures and systems to highlight, report and remove any risks to safety or the environment. Take part in safety activities with dynamic risk assessments using the T5 methodology. Complete pre use vehicle and operational machinery checks identifying and defects or routine maintenance requirements. Complete 2 x safety interaction cards per month. Engage with stakeholders and colleagues to ensure their compliance with safety procedures and assist in the solution of any issues. Complete and record routine safety checks on the equipment and work area ensuring visual standards are attained.

Quality and Food SafetyEnsuring that all product specifications agreed with the internal or external customers are met. Always maintain food safety standards. All defective or returned product is correctly stored in the quarantine area and recorded in WHMS correctly. Any product that requires processing after QA is reworked in accordance to Louth QA Standards and recorded. All outbound trailers must be loaded safely and to the required standard with a load integrity sign off completed against each load.

ProductionActively promote and help develop improvement activities associated with the finished goods process by following best practice to increase outputs, reduce costs, reduce waste, and reduce customer issues. Work closely with the other departments to deliver the production and delivery schedule. Liaise with the Shift Manager and Despatch Manager on running order and ensure product is available for the next customer (internal or external) on time and in full. Maintain production outputs whenever possible with consideration to safety and quality. Proactively use any despatch down time on housekeeping / machine improvements and personal development. Ensure departmental priorities are resourced to maintain consistent workflow, engage with shift colleagues encouraging team working to ensure site OTIF is achieved. Strapper to be run at optimum speed level, ensuring safety and product quality. Visual standards and routine cleaning schedules to be adhered to. Conducting daily/weekly checks & consumable stocktake. Any other reasonable task associated with Despatch Operations subject to adequate training.

Waste and EnvironmentEnsure general waste is minimised. Keep waste segregated and switch off any unused power sources.

HousekeepingAlways maintain a clean workspace and adhere to site rules regarding tools and chemical storage. Departmental visual standards to be adhered to any despatch downtime to be

proactively used to completed area improvements.
Personal DevelopmentContinual development by actively participating in all coaching and training programmes. * Proactively engage in new polices and procedures and keep abreast of any relevant company information displayed on noticeboards and other communication methods.
