About the role :
Reporting to the Operations Manager, this is a great opportunity for an individual to take on a new challenge, build on their current experience and develop themselves in a leadership role within the factory.
To manage a team of Warehouse Operatives and to ensure the Warehouse runs smoothly and efficiently during shifts, supporting the production with a continuous supply of materials, organising the staff and their duties so all areas are covered. We need someone who leads by example, takes their work seriously and has excellent people management skills. To succeed in this role you will be enthusiastic, hardworking, reliable and flexible with the ability to follow instructions. Good attention to detail is also key to this role. To succeed in this role you will be diligent with a flexible approach to work and a 'will do/can do' attitude.
This is a full-time role based at our headquarters in Kendal.
You will be required to work the following shift pattern:
Earlies:
06:00 - 13:30 Monday to Friday
Lates:
13:15 - 20:45 Monday to Friday
Responsibilities
Carries out training for Warehouse Operatives and takes a pro-active role in improvement activities.
Liaise with transport companies to organise transport for finished goods.
Takes a lead role in stock control and stock rotation.
Takes the lead in Waste Management, arranges disposal and collection of damaged goods.
Ensures that supplies of materials are maintained to Packing, Blending & Primary by organisation of staff.
Takes a lead role in quality issues, liaising with QC, Planning, Packaging, Blending & Primary department's teams as required.
Be self-motivated and capable of working with minimum supervision, working to tight deadlines.
Working accurately with excellent attention to detail.
Being computer literate is a necessity, experience of working with Excel spreadsheets, the internet and email.
Ensuring poor performance is addressed and Employee Relation issues are resolved within the parameters of Company procedures, seeking guidance from Operation Management and HR where appropriate
Complying with safety procedures including but not limited to: adopting safe working practices, wearing the required protective clothing and use of safety equipment appropriate to the role.
Experience:
Experience of managing teams and developing people or the ability to learn
Strong awareness of manufacturing to high quality standards and resolving technical challenges to improve quality
Strong communication and people skills
Proactive approach to tasks, working in a fast paced environment
Good working knowledge of Word and Excel
Proven problem-solving skills, proven ability to prioritise and manage own workload
Hold a Forklift Truck Licence.
Have a minimum of 2 years' experience of Warehouse Operations
