This is a multi-site role, and responsibilities may be required at any Murray Uniforms
warehouse depending on business needs. The Warehouse Team Leader will work closely with the Operations Manager and is expected to act on their behalf when required. Often, the Warehouse Team Leader will be the most senior person on site and is therefore expected to lead by example and conduct themselves in line with Murray Uniforms' Leadership and Company Values.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
Open and close the site in accordance with company security and safety procedures.
Ensure all daily warehouse functions are completed on time, including Goods In, Put Away, Picking, Packing, Despatch, Returns, and Stock Control.
Monitor workflow across departments, reallocating resources to meet service level and delivery deadlines.
Report performance, issues, or exceptions to the Operations Manager promptly.
Deputise for the Operations Manager during absences, ensuring continuity of service and compliance.
Health, Safety, and Compliance
Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and internal procedures.
Conduct daily site checks, including equipment inspections, fire exits, and housekeeping.
Ensure all staff wear the correct PPE and operate safely at all times.
Record and report any near-misses, hazards, or incidents immediately.
Maintain awareness of Manual Handling procedures and safe lifting techniques.
Ensure all warehouse equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet trucks) is maintained and used only by trained, authorised personnel.
People and Team Management
Lead, motivate, and support team members to achieve operational objectives.
Conduct daily briefings and end-of-day debriefs.
Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to improve performance and capability.
Support new starter inductions and ongoing development training.
Monitor attendance, timekeeping, and adherence to company policies.
Encourage a culture of teamwork, respect, and continuous improvement.
Ensure monthly 121's are conducted with all staff.
Feedback to staff on KPI performance.
Quality and Performance
Ensure all orders are picked, packed, and despatched accurately and on time.
Monitor accuracy and quality of work, carrying out random spot checks.
Ensure all Goods In are booked into the system accurately within 48 hours.
Support and lead periodic stock counts and full stocktakes.
Investigate discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
Maintain 5S and continuous improvement standards across all warehouse areas
Customer Service and Communication
Ensure warehouse service supports Legendary Service expectations for both internal and external customers.
Communicate effectively with Customer Care, Admin, and other departments to resolve queries quickly.
Support customer returns processing to meet SLA expectations.
Maintain a professional and approachable manner when liaising with other departments, couriers, and visitors.
Administration and Reporting
Complete all warehouse documentation accurately and on time.
Maintain system updates (ERP, scanning systems, etc.) to ensure real-time stock accuracy.
Report daily operational updates, KPIs, and issues to the Operations Manager.
Support internal audits and provide information when required.
Ensure all records are filed and retained in line with company policy.
Site Standards and Maintenance
Ensure all areas of the warehouse are kept clean, tidy, and safe at all times.
Coordinate waste removal, recycling, and housekeeping schedules.
Report building or equipment defects immediately and follow up to resolution.
Additional Responsibilities
Support the wider business and other sites as required (Full Driving Licence essential).
Participate in projects and continuous improvement initiatives.
Represent the company professionally at all times.
Opening & Closing of site.
Ensuring maintenance and housekeeping is maintained.
Ensuring H&S legislation is adhered to
Supporting other team members and other departments
Support of Ops Manager when required
Support of MU Admin requirements when required
Staff training
Person specification:
Experience
Proven experience in a warehouse leadership or supervisory role.
Demonstrated ability to manage daily warehouse operations and meet service-level requirements.
Experience coordinating small teams and allocating resources effectively.
Previous multi-site warehouse experience (desirable).
Experience within uniform, apparel, or e-commerce logistics environments (desirable)
Skills & Competencies
Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise under pressure.
Confident decision-maker who takes accountability for outcomes.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop others.
Proficient in warehouse management systems (ERP/WMS) and Microsoft Office tools.
Strong numerical and analytical ability, with attention to accuracy and detail.
Forklift licence (counterbalance or reach) (desirable).
Trained in first aid or fire marshal duties (desirable).
Awareness or experience of Lean, 5S, or continuous improvement practices (desirable).
