to oversee day-to-day operations within our flat-packed furniture warehouse. You'll lead a team on the shop floor, ensuring all inbound and outbound activities run safely, efficiently and to a high standard of accuracy.
This role is ideal for someone with strong people skills, great attention to detail and a background in warehousing, logistics or distribution - especially where products are picked, packed and dispatched to stores or direct to customers.
Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Performance
Lead, motivate and support a team of warehouse operatives on your shift.
Plan daily workloads, allocate tasks and set priorities based on inbound/outbound demands.
Monitor performance (productivity, accuracy, punctuality) and provide coaching and feedback.
Support with onboarding and training new team members on processes and equipment.
Operations & Process Management
Oversee goods-in: unloading, checking and storing flat-packed furniture safely.
Manage picking, packing and dispatch activities to meet customer and delivery deadlines.
Ensure correct use of warehouse management systems (WMS)
Maintain stock accuracy through regular cycle counts and investigating discrepancies.
Coordinate with Transport, Customer Service and other departments to resolve issues quickly.
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure all team members follow H&S procedures.
Carry out regular checks of racking, MHE (e.g. pallet trucks, forklifts) and walkways.
Ensure manual handling guidelines are followed at all times.
Maintain a clean, organised and hazard-free working environment.
Continuous Improvement
Identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce damages and streamline processes.
Support implementation of new systems, layouts or ways of working.
Contribute to daily/weekly team briefings and share ideas with management.
About You
Essential:
Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics or distribution environment.
Proven experience as a Team Leader, Supervisor or Senior Operative (or ready for the step up).
Strong people skills with the ability to lead by example and build a positive team culture.
Confident using warehouse systems and basic IT (email, spreadsheets).
Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure to deadlines.
High level of attention to detail, especially with stock accuracy and order checking.
Good understanding of health & safety and manual handling practices.
Desirable:
Experience handling large or bulky items such as furniture or DIY products.
Forklift licence (e.g. Counterbalance / Reach) - or willingness to train.
Experience in a fast-paced e-commerce / retail distribution centre.
