Warehouse Operative and Van driver

Hours of work

37 hours per week guaranteed, usually 4-5 days per week over Monday to Friday but can require the occasional Saturday if driving which can be overtime if preferred and upwards of 50 per week is available at certain times of year.

The Role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a combined home delivery driver and warehouse operative to join the team at Trade Furniture Company. We are a growing company with a great dynamic team and progression opportunities are available. The Successful candidate will be working a combined role of driving during busy periods delivering our furniture to customer's homes, will provide the highest level of customer service and be well presented and during quieter periods will assist the warehouse manager and other drivers with general picking and loading duties. The role will be more warehouse work than it will driving for most of the year.

Full training and equipment will be given though the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a clear understanding of a home delivery role and previous delivery driving experience is desirable. Strong customer service, organisation and communication skills are also vital in this position. We also offer FLT training inhouse.

Delivery Driver and Warehouse Operative

you will be;

Driving 3.5 ton Luton box vans and LWB Sprinter vans.

Loading & Unloading Vans.

Calling customers prior to arrival.

Delivering furniture to the ground floor of residential homes.

Unpacking furniture items and assembling in some cases, removing all packaging in some cases though most deliveries are left boxed.

Taking some cash payments.

Carrying out vehicle checks daily and weekly.

Taking the vehicle home or collecting from yard and keeping it clean/tidy when doing driving work.

Providing first class customer service in your customer facing environment.

Assisting the warehouse manager and working with other drivers to pick and load vans.

Assisting with the unloading of containers.

Using the FLT when qualified to stack boxes on racking and general warehouse work.

The warehouse role is the dominant position and will include opening up at 7am and or locking up at 5pm.

The driving role involves driving a Mercedes Sprinter LWB van, loading and unloading of furniture from our warehouse in Birstall. Start times vary between 4.30am and 8am and you will be delivering the items throughout the UK mainland into customer's homes. As part of our standard service you will deliver the items boxed though unwrap orders will require unwrapping the items then signing to accept delivery via an app on the mobile phone provided. Some orders will require cash payments to be taken. All the customers will be pre booked in on a time slot of 2-3 hours and the routes are already planned, a mobile phone will be provided as some customers may need a call 30-60 minutes before the delivery, overnight runs will be planned in advance and a hotel booked and paid for you. You will also be required to perform daily checks of the vehicle and report any faults to the office.

Salary

:

13 per hour though salary potential is around 30,000 per year with overtime and bonus potential. Customer tips can be retained by the driver.

50 Overnight bonus paid if away for 2 consecutive nights.

15 Food allowance per overnight stay.

Hotel accommodation provided for all overnight stays.
