Here at Pembrokeshire we are proud to have been named amongst the top performing Local Authorities for recycling in Wales for the last six years and we are looking for new Waste Compliance Officer to join our innovative recording breaking Waste and Recycling service.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated individual to join our team. This rewarding yet demanding role involves coordinating waste transfer activities, including supervising site staff and external contractors to ensure safety and efficiency. You will be responsible for managing operatives and plant, maintaining accurate data reporting, and upholding the highest standards of site operations, safety, and efficiency. Additionally, you will contribute to developing innovative waste management practices aimed at reducing waste and improving recycling rates.
You will ensure that safe working practices are consistently followed and that the highest standards of service delivery are maintained.
In this role, you will actively support Pembrokeshire County Council in achieving its core objective of becoming one of the top recycling authorities in Wales, contributing to a greener and cleaner Pembrokeshire.
You will also play a key role in driving continuous service improvement, ensuring operations are efficient and effective while meeting Welsh Government targets and legislative requirements.
Roles Available
We are seeking a permanent post for a Waste Compliance Officer.
Requirement of the role.
WAMITAB Level 4 Certificate in Waste and Resource Management or an extensive period of relevant working experience in waste or logistics management.
Knowledge of waste and recycling compliance requirements, including an in-depth knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and associated legislation especially relating to Wales
Supervisor or team leading experience in an operational context. Able to manage and motivate a team, and organise own and others workloads.
Strong understanding of health and safety practices and risk assessments in an operational environment and health and safety regulations relevant to post.
A valid driving licence is desirable, preferably with HGV and Plant Machine Operator.
Good written and communication skills able to communicate information concisely, orally and in writing using plain English to convey clear messages to a wide range of people/organisations
Demonstrate ability to maintain accurate records through a working understanding of computer programmes i.e. Microsoft programmes, PCC IT management systems and weighbridge software.
