Job Responsibilities

Drive and take care of the assigned vehicle, including daily checks, basic maintenance, and cleaning. Help load and unload the vehicle when needed. Fill out and submit all necessary paperwork daily, reporting any missed collections and reasons. Use in-cab technology to update any missed collections and reasons. Collect waste from designated areas according to the schedule, adjusting as needed for unexpected situations. Ensure all waste is collected safely and properly, following health and safety guidelines. Ensure special collections are done on the specified days. Update property information as necessary. Report any accidents, damage, or near misses as soon as possible. Complete and check tachograph records when applicable. Supervise the team and vehicle. Show new and temporary workers how to perform tasks. Operate vehicle machinery safely and according to regulations. Discuss any personal training needs with your supervisor. Maintain high customer care standards and ensure crew behavior aligns with service standards. Ensure gates are closed, spills are cleaned, and bins are returned to their original locations. Be prepared to work outside normal hours, including weekends and holidays, with appropriate compensation. Be mindful of the safety of the public and team members.

Person Specification

Must Have:

Experience:

Experience driving refuse or recycling vehicles. Experience completing daily log sheets and using tachographs. Ability to use electronic systems. Experience in waste collection and recycling.

Qualifications:

Current HGV license holder.

Nice to Have:

Qualifications:

NVQ Level 2 in waste management or willingness to work towards it.
