We are looking for an enthusiastic individual to join the Council's Waste & Recycling team as a

Waste and Recycling Driver

. This is a key frontline role in helping deliver vital services that directly improve the environment of the Isles of Scilly.



As part of the Operational Services team, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of waste collection vehicles on St Mary's to support the Council's household and commercial waste and recycling collections service.. Working closely with the Waste Site Manager and Waste Site Supervisor, your work will include the collection, processing , and containerisation of domestic and commercial waste and recycling from across the islands. You will also play a part in maintaining the effective running of the Porthmellon Waste & Recycling Site and supporting customers in a polite and professional manner.


Key Responsibilities Include:



Driving and operating waste collection and operational vehicles Carrying out waste and recycling collections across St Mary's Supporting waste processing, reduction, re-use, and recycling Providing customer service to the public at the recycling centre Assisting with wider operational service delivery when required Ensuring all work is carried out in accordance with Health and Safety procedures and Council policies

About You:



We're looking for someone who:

Holds an appropriate C1driving licence and is confident operating large vehicles and equipment. Understands Health and Safety regulations (including COSHH) Is flexible, reliable, and capable of working alone or as part of a team Is keen to learn and develop professionally - training and qualifications will be provided for the right person.

Desirable:



A technical qualification in waste management or willingness to work towards one (e.g., WAMITAB)
