We are seeking a dedicated and hardworking Waste Operative to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient collection, sorting, and disposal of waste materials. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining cleanliness and sustainability within our operations.
Duties will include but are not limited to:
Responsible for site health and safety, near miss reporting and accident risk management. operatives will operate in line with the management plan and OSHAS45001 objectives to ensure the continued safety of themselves, staff, contractors and visitors, inclusive of overall responsibility for their respective unit.
Responsible for respective unit of operation and supporting overall site, always housekeeping, tidy and organised workstation, areas and units are the minimum requirement, specific emphasis on walkways and fire exits being accessible and clear at all times.
Responsibility for supporting safe vehicle movements on site, loading and unloading and receipt of all waste in line with the current legislation, identifying and reporting any non-conformances.
Responsibility for the maintaining of employee skill sets, subject to working activities and areas, assessing competency and implementing training as and where required. Ensuring cross skilling to provide suitable flexibility for interdepartmental changes.
Responsibility for supporting site environmental compliance and management of the site to specific permit conditions with particular emphasis on waste controls and monitoring of emissions and materials.
Provide regular feedback to Team Leaders on safety and performance to encourage a collaborative approach to the maintenance and improvement of expected levels of output production at minimum cost. Supporting unit specific KPI's, identifying and implementing innovative and efficient process changes in all areas.
Any other reasonable tasks within your capabilities as requested by management with an understanding that working hours are what is required to get the job done and additional time may be required to meet the requirements. Flexibility here is required.
