You\'ll work with your fellow Environment Management Team Leaders and wider leadership group to focus our resources where we can make the biggest difference and ensure that everyone who works here has the support they need to do a fantastic job. In addition to strong leadership skills, you\'ll need the ability to build relationships with customers and external partners.

Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents, or provide business continuity support during an incident and you will support your team to do the same. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.

The team

The team\'s focus is to deliver our regulatory role to ensure those operating in the waste industry do so in compliance with their permits and the law; the team use regulatory interventions and take enforcement action to achieve this where required. The team also responds to all types of environmental incidents.

The team is based in Romsey, Hampshire and Newport, Isle of Wight. We work flexibly from the office, in the field and from home.

Experience/skills required

You will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

  • Experience of leading people. This may have been achieved through non-line management roles for example, project management or technical leadership roles
  • Ability to deliver results through others by overseeing staff, coaching and mentoring
  • Experience of focusing on and influencing external customers and internal colleagues
  • Experience in successfully handling conflict with confidence and assertiveness
  • Ability to translate organisational outcomes into plans and programmes for frontline delivery in an operational environment
  • Demonstration of political awareness and sensitivity when dealing with customers, partners and communities
You must have a full driving license or be able to demonstrate how you could perform this role fully without one.

Role specific license requirements

You must have a full driving licence or be able to demonstrate how you could perform this role fully without one.
