We are looking for an experienced Estimator to join our team supporting the AMP8 Water Framework on a long-term, Outside IR35 contract. THE ROLE CAN BE FULLY REMOTE IF NEEDED.
The successful candidate will play a key role in the cost estimating and tendering process for a portfolio of clean and wastewater infrastructure projects. Working closely with delivery, design, and commercial teams, you will ensure that accurate, competitive, and robust cost estimates are developed in line with framework and client expectation.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Prepare detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for AMP8 water infrastructure projects, including civils, M&E, pipelines, and treatment works.
Analyse drawings, specifications, and contract documentation to develop accurate cost models and pricing structures.
Support pre-construction and bid teams with pricing strategy, benchmarking, and value engineering opportunities.
Liaise with design, delivery, and commercial teams to ensure alignment between project scope and cost estimates.
Review and assess subcontractor quotations for accuracy and competitiveness.
Maintain cost databases and estimating templates in line with framework requirements.
Provide estimating input throughout the project lifecycle, from feasibility to final account.
Contribute to continuous improvement within the estimating and pre-construction function.
Requirements
Proven experience as an
Estimator
within the
UK water sector
, ideally across
AMP frameworks
(AMP7 / AMP8).
Strong understanding of NEC contracts and water industry pricing mechanisms.
Background in civil engineering, utilities, or M&E disciplines related to water infrastructure.
Excellent analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail.
Proficient in estimating software such as
Causeway, Candy, CCS
, or advanced
Excel
tools.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to work independently under an
Outside IR35
arrangement.
Willingness to attend the office or site
three days per week
.
Desirable Qualifications
Degree or HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
Chartered or working towards professional accreditation (MRICS, MCInstCES, or similar).
Previous experience working with
- 3 days on site, 2 days remote.
Competitive day rate (dependent on experience).
