5x 8 Hour shifts Monday to Friday



Participation in a contractual, out of hour's standby rota



About the role




We have a number of fantastic opportunities for you to join us as a Water Network Operative based at our Hanningfield, Dagenham and Southend depots, Applicants must reside within a reasonable travel distance to our area of supply. In this role you will be working as part of the Network Services Team that has Health & Safety at the heart of everything they do.


Reporting to one of our Area Managers, you will undertake repair and maintenance work on our distribution network of underground pipes and fittings, safely, hygienically, to a high standard and always delivering great customer service.


The work involves excavating in the public highway using multiple techniques, therefore previous experience is essential. Carrying out repairs and maintenance activities to our underground pipes and assets, repairing burst water mains through to installing stop taps - essentially, keeping the water flowing to our customers 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.

Please note, this role comes with a commercial vehicle and fuel card for business use only.





About You




We are looking for committed, motivated people who want to be part of a fantastic team. Carrying out high quality repairs and maintenance to our distribution network whilst delivering outstanding customer service in everything that we do. We want our customers to have clean, flowing water every minute of every hour of every day, so we need people who want to make a difference, working flexibly and working in our out of hours standby rota. You will have the ability to undertake excavations in the public highway using a range of different techniques and send and receive electronic work requests on electronic devices - such as an iPhone.

We are looking for you to have relevant transferable skills, such as



Experience in carrying out excavations in public highway, whilst ensuring personal and public safety. Experience in maintenance and repairs of underground assets/ or similar. Good people and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical messages in a simple way. Strong attention to detail and ability to listen to and act upon instructions. You must be able to meet the physical demand of the role with the ability to work outdoors in all weathers.

And ideally, you will have:



Experience/trained in water industry. An EUSR Hygiene card A Street works accreditation (NRSWA) Main laying and service laying training Mini Digger qualification Deep excavation / trench support training Be able to use your initiative and problem-solving skills to ensure the most effective and efficient methods are utilised.

Please note - This role has been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you will be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date. Prospective employees and agency workers who fail a pre-employment urine drug screen will have their sample analysed by the Company appointed laboratory as a matter of course. Failing a pre-employment drugs or alcohol test may lead to the job offer being revoked.

Please note this role also requires a full driving licence.

Please note this role requires a DBS check to be carried out on the successful candidate.
