Howden Retail
Our Retail division is spread across the UK and Ireland and focuses on small-medium size enterprises (SMEs), individual clients and private high-net-worth clients, providing them with tailored insurance solutions that meet their unique needs. Whatever the question, the concern, or the risk, we can get the right experts in a room and find the right answer.
Mortgages and Financial Planning
Our Mortgages and Financial Planning team support clients in protecting their mortgage, planning for their future, and managing their finances and assets strategically.
In the Protection team, we provide insurance for when life takes an unexpected turn such as illness or injury affecting their ability to pay their mortgage. You'll learn about products like income protection, life insurance and critical illness cover.
In the Wealth team, we act as trusted advisor for our clients and help them plan for their future through investment advice, pension support, inheritance tax planning and retirement strategies.

What is the role?
This is a one-year rotational apprenticeship programme where you will be immersed in the world of Mortgages and Financial Planning. You will spend 6 months in our Protection team followed by 6 months in our Wealth team.
You will be part of a friendly and supportive team who will guide you every step of the way. One day a week will be dedicated to studying towards a Level 3 qualification, all while earning a salary and gaining valuable real-world experience.
What you'll do?You will gain a nationally recognised Level 3 qualification for your relevant programme. As part of this, you'll spend one day a week studying with your dedicated trainer, who will support you every step of the way to ensure you're set up for success. Take part in a year long structured development programme designed to help you build the skills and confidence needed to thrive in your role. All of our apprentices take part in this programme, so you'll have a group of peers to learn alongside.
Rotation 1: Protection TeamShadow our administrators and learn the protection lifecycle process. Support our administrators with file construction and preparing insurance quotes. Collaborate with the Mortgages team who pass on their clients interested in our services, giving you the opportunity to work with a diverse range of clients. Learn how to conduct medical consultation calls with clients to understand their health risks and chase doctor's reports. Use your analytical skills to research and understand existing insurance products.

Rotation 2: Wealth TeamTake part in client meetings and observe how our Wealth Advisors present bespoke strategies on how to protect our clients' financial interests. Learn how to analyse pension information and build cash flow models. Support our advisors with research, analysis and reporting which will be used to inform wealth strategies.
What are we looking for?
No experience in insurance is required; we'll teach you everything you need to know!Final year sixth form/college students or recent college leavers. GCSE English and Maths at C or 4 grade. Strong communicators who are comfortable taking phone calls with clients at all levels and enjoy delivering good customer service. Relationship builders who thrive on connecting with others. Analytical individuals who are comfortable working with numbers. Ambitious and proactive individuals who are eager to make impact in the work they do.

Assessment centre: Our final stage is an in-person assessment day at one of our offices close to you. You'll take part in some fun group activities and meet our team in a relaxed setting. This day is all about getting to know you better and for you to see what it's like to be part of Howden and experience our culture. We'll cover all your travel costs for this day!
