Web And Digital Design Internship

United Kingdom, United Kingdom

Job Description

(known externally as Lancashire Emotional Health in Schools and Colleges, or LEHSS) operates within the Doctorate in Clinical Psychology programme. The service works with staff in schools and colleges across Lancashire to improve their understanding of and support for children\'s mental health difficulties. The service is comprised of a small team of clinical psychologists who have previous experience of working in NHS child mental health services. We deliver a comprehensive training programme to school and college staff, as well as providing advice and digital resources.

The service is fully externally funded by the Lancashire County Council (LCC) Public Health department and provides services free of charge to schools in the county. We are also funded by the Department for Education to provide a separate training course for Senior Mental Health Leads in schools in the county.

We have been successful in engaging with educational establishments in Lancashire, with staff from over 500 schools and colleges attending our training over the last 10 years. However, due to frequent changes in staffing in schools we need to keep advertising our services to schools and working hard to maintain engagement and awareness of our work.

We have a basic website hosted on Wordpress through the university which gives a summary of the services we offer. We would like to update the website to be more engaging and more accessible. We have limited skills within the team in web design.

We would like the successful applicant to research similar services for comparison, and re-design the LEHSS website to be more engaging to an external audience, and be easier to navigate. We are developing e-learning packages which we would also like to integrate better into our website. We have also had guidance from the Department for Education around website accessibility that we need to address.

If time allows, we would also like to apply the graphic design principles from the redesigned website within our other resources, e.g. redesign of Powerpoint templates and training guides.
