We're looking for a

Web Content Lead

to run the daily operations of our website. You'll lead our editorial team, shape our content agenda, and ensure our written output reflects the same energy and excellence as our wider media portfolio. This role combines day-to-day newsroom leadership with strategic oversight, providing the space to innovate, collaborate, and grow reach across both the core PinkNews site and other digital brands in our group.

London - Hybrid remote (1-2 days per week in our East-London based office)

Salary:

45,000- 60,000 DOE

Key Responsibilities:



News Desk Management



Oversee publishing across PinkNews and other digital brands in our portfolio Run a dynamic, data-informed newsroom delivering a mix of breaking news, exclusives, features, evergreen and SEO-driven content Oversee daily news desk operations, ensuring timely, accurate, and engaging coverage Commission, edit, sub, and publish news articles, ensuring a high standard of reporting and storytelling Attend daily content commissioning meetings, aligning coverage with daily social/video output Ensure additional coverage is prioritised to perform on Google Discover Work to improve content performance across news aggregators e.g. Apple News and Flipboard Implement best practices for SEO across all content Write and edit news stories as needed Manage a team of reporters, ensuring high-performance and taking an active role in their development Oversee the commissioning and management of freelance contributors Organise the rota for permanent and freelance reporters Ensure all content meets legal and ethical standards, adhering to defamation laws, media regulations, and best practices for responsible journalism Oversee pre-publication legal review, ensuring all relevant content is submitted for legal sign-off and fully approved prior to publishing Uphold the highest standards of accuracy and balance in coverage Collaborate with the Head of Video to ensure alignment between editorial and video strategies and seamless content integration Set and work towards ambitious targets within the department, reporting on chosen metrics and providing recommendations to maximise performance Work with the COO and finance team to proactively manage the departmental budget

Tech and AI



Support on the testing and integration of AI tools into the daily functioning of the newsroom, including content creation, editing, distribution, tagging and other administrative functions Be a point of contact for our third-party development agency and contribute to regular stand-ups

Industry Awareness & Trend Monitoring



Stay ahead of emerging trends and broader media industry developments
Identify opportunities for innovative storytelling and editorial projects that expand PinkNews' impact

Successful candidates will demonstrate:





NCTJ qualification or equivalent Experience in digital journalism, with time spent in an editorial leadership role Exceptional editing and proofreading skills, with a keen eye for detail Strong understanding of SEO best practices and experience of optimising stories and pitches for search Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously Proven ability to manage and inspire junior team members, with strong interpersonal and communication skills Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital publishing tools Ability to analyse web traffic and referral sources to inform content decisions, using tools such as Google Analytics 4 and Google Trends Creativity and adaptability, with a passion for staying ahead of industry trends Understanding of LGBTQ+ issues and terminology A genuine passion for entertainment, celebrity and internet culture, which makes up the largest proportion of our overall content output Relevant contacts in the entertainment, political and wider news landscape
