Job Summary


We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Website Administrator to oversee the management, optimisation, and security of our organisation's web infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining website performance, implementing system updates, and ensuring seamless integration across various platforms. Responsibilities



Manage and maintain the organisation's website infrastructure, ensuring optimal performance and security. Implement and oversee service-oriented architecture (SOA) principles to facilitate scalable and flexible web solutions. Administer cloud-based platforms such as AWS and Azure, including deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting. Configure and manage virtualisation environments using VMware and ESXi to support development and production systems. Develop, test, and deploy web applications using languages such as JavaScript, Java, Python, Bash (Unix shell), and SQL-based scripts like T-SQL and PL/SQL. Design and implement system architecture solutions that support microservices, APIs (REST), load balancing, VPNs, firewalls, DNS, DHCP, and network security protocols. Manage databases including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server to ensure data integrity and availability. Utilise containerisation tools like Kubernetes for deployment orchestration in a DevOps environment. Monitor system health using tools such as Jenkins and Git for continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD). Ensure compliance with information security standards by configuring firewalls, VPNs, and other security measures. Maintain documentation of system design, architecture diagrams, operational procedures, and SDLC processes. Provide technical support for system administration tasks related to operating systems including Windows, Linux, UNIX systems. Collaborate with development teams on system design improvements while adhering to best practices in system engineering.

Qualifications



Proven experience in system administration within an IT environment specialising in web infrastructure management. Strong knowledge of service-oriented architecture (SOA), solution architecture, and systems engineering principles. Hands-on experience with cloud services such as AWS and Azure; familiarity with VMware or ESXi is essential. Proficiency in scripting languages including Bash (Unix shell), Python, PowerShell; experience with Shell Scripting is advantageous. Extensive understanding of networking concepts such as DNS, DHCP, VPNs, load balancing, firewalls, and computer networking protocols. Experience working with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle Database Management Systems (DBMS), Microsoft SQL Server. Familiarity with containerisation tools such as Kubernetes; knowledge of DevOps practices is desirable. Knowledge of APIs (REST), microservices architecture, SDLC methodologies, system design principles. Skills in operating systems including Windows Server environments as well as Linux/UNIX platforms. Experience with version control systems like Git; CI/CD tools such as Jenkins are beneficial. Strong understanding of information security standards related to web hosting environments. Relevant qualifications in IT or computer science are preferred; certifications in cloud platforms or network security are advantageous.
