As part of our expansion, Trailblazing Digital are investing heavily in digital infrastructure and require an experienced Back-End WordPress Developer to lead on our plugin development and WooCommerce integrations.
We are a digital growth business that help grow SME's and Football/Sports Clubs.
The Role
We are looking for a technically strong WordPress Developer with a focus on back-end development, custom plugin builds, and WooCommerce functionality. You'll work across multiple websites and brands, ensuring high performance, seamless integrations, and stable architecture. This is an ideal role for someone who can take ownership of back-end systems and build scalable solutions as our digital footprint grows.
Key Responsibilities
Develop, customise and maintain custom WordPress plugins and child themes
Build and extend WooCommerce functionality including checkout flows, shipping logic, and product data management
Integrate third-party APIs and tools (e.g. CRMs, payment gateways, lead systems)
Maintain codebase using version control (Git) and staging environments
Optimise back-end performance, database queries, and server load times
Ensure strong website security and carry out routine updates and maintenance
Support the marketing and design teams with custom functionality where required
Troubleshoot technical issues and develop long-term solutions across multiple group websites
What We're Looking For
Proven experience in back-end WordPress development and plugin creation
Strong knowledge of PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS
WooCommerce development experience, including custom functions and logic
Experience integrating with external APIs and web services
Understanding of WordPress architecture, actions/hooks, and REST API
Familiar with security best practices and optimising site performance
Experience with version control (Git) and deployment workflows
