The Christian Care Trust runs Grace House, a small Christian care home in North London. We are passionate about offering excellent person-centred care to people in Barnet.

We are starting an exciting phase of growth and regeneration. We're looking for an excellent cook to run our kitchen at weekends.

Job Summary

To prepare meals for the home's eleven residents at weekends - breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will work 2 six hour shifts, being Saturday and Sunday 8am to 2pm.

Responsibilities and Duties

Menu preparation

You will work with the home's regular Chef and Registered Manager to prepare menus for residents which are appropriate to their personal nutritional needs.

Cooking

You will prepare tasty and nutritious meals, and ensure they are ready on time to be served to residents.

Washing and tidying

You will manage the kitchen to ensure crockery, cutlery and kitchen utensils are clean and put away tidily.

Purchasing

You will co-ordinate with the regular Chef and the Registered Manager to ensure healthy provisions are purchased on time and within budget.

Health & Safety

You will ensure the kitchen is compliant with regulations.

Experience / Skills

Experience working as a cook ideally in a restaurant or commercial kitchen Training or cookery qualifications, for example NVQ or culinary school It would be useful to have worked in a community environment such as a care home, hospital or school. Easy going, happy to work as part of a team.

Pay: 13.85 per hour

Expected hours: 12 per week
