Fabrication & Welding Engineer - Weekend Shift
Location: Pontrilas Sawmills, Herefordshire
Hours: Weekend Shift - Friday to Sunday, 05:45-18:15
Salary Range: 39,571.48 - 43,046 per year (dependent on experience) + Weekly Production Bonus + Overtime

Due to continued investment in new machinery and production technology, we are looking to expand our engineering department on the weekend shift.

Pontrilas Sawmills, a family-run and industry-leading timber production company, is seeking a skilled Fabrication & Welding Engineer to support our operations during the weekend shift. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on fabricator/welder to work with advanced equipment in a business that consistently invests in its people, facilities, and technology.

Key Responsibilities:

Carry out fabrication, welding, and repair work to maintain and improve production machinery and infrastructure.
Respond to breakdowns requiring welded or fabricated solutions to minimize downtime.
Work with a variety of welding processes, including MIG, MAG, and MMA, on a range of materials.
Manufacture and modify components, brackets, guards, and machine parts to support plant reliability.
Undertake mechanical maintenance tasks where required, including hydraulics and pneumatics.
Ensure all fabrication and welding work meets safety and quality standards.
Proven background in fabrication and welding within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
Skilled in welding techniques (MIG, MAG, MMA), with the ability to work to high standards of finish and strength.
Experience in general mechanical maintenance (hydraulics, pneumatics, gearboxes, and fault-finding).
Competence in reading and working from engineering drawings.
Completion of a recognized Mechanical Apprenticeship or Fabrication/Welding Apprenticeship (or equivalent).
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently during weekend shifts.
Strong safety awareness with good teamwork and communication skills.
