We are seeking a local, dedicated and enthusiastic Shop Assistant to join our small team. The ideal local candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our shop, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining an organised and welcoming environment. This position is perfect for individuals who enjoy working in a dynamic setting, have a passion for assisting customers and enjoy good food.
Responsibilities
Greet customers warmly and assist them with their inquiries.
Maintain an organised and tidy shop floor, ensuring products are displayed attractively.
Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently.
Restock shelves and manage inventory levels to ensure product availability.
Restocking includes preparing fresh vegetables and requires the use of knives
Assist in the preparation of promotional displays and marketing materials.
Handle customer complaints or concerns with professionalism and care.
Collaborate with team members to achieve sales targets and enhance customer satisfaction.
Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the shop environment.
Physically fit and able to lift 25kg (Heavy sacks of potatoes for example)
Qualifications
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage effectively with customers.
Previous experience in retail or customer service is an advantage but not essential.
Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Ability to work well in a team as well as independently.
A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills.

This is a weekend only role, however we do occasionally require cover during the week. A typical working day is 8am to 6pm.
