As a Weekend General Partner at Car-y-Mor, you will be a vital part of Wales' first regenerative seaweed and shellfish farm. Your work will directly support sustainable food production, environmental stewardship, and community well-being.

You will play a hands-on role in maintaining the welfare of our live shellfish stocks, supporting our farm, kitchen, and retail operations, and building positive relationships with local fishermen, wholesale customers and partners. You'll help us ensure that high standards of quality, care, and customer service are consistently delivered.

Weekend work (Saturday and Sunday) is essential for this position, making it a perfect opportunity for those seeking stable weekend employment, whether part-time (minimum 16 hours) or up to full-time (up to 40 hours). Additional weekday hours can be offered depending on business needs and your availability.

Responsibilities & accountabilities...

The Key responsibilities of this role include:

Animal Welfare & Stock Tank Monitoring:

Conduct regular checks of live shellfish stock tanks.

Record and monitor key parameters (e.g., temperature, salinity, oxygen levels).

Identify and report any welfare concerns or abnormalities.

Implement corrective actions to maintain optimal stock health and environmental conditions.

Deliveries, Collections & Liaison:

Carry out local deliveries of shellfish and products as required.

Collect shellfish directly from local fishermen.

Build positive relationships with local suppliers and ensure smooth handovers.

Maintain delivery and collection records, ensuring products are handled safely and hygienically.

Farm, Production & Kitchen Support:

Assist with harvesting, preparation, and packaging of seaweed and shellfish products.

Support kitchen production, including food preparation, cleaning, stock rotation, and inventory management.

Maintain accurate records relating to production, traceability, and quality assurance.

Retail & Customer Interaction:

Support the smooth running of our shop, including stocking shelves, maintaining displays, and assisting customers when needed.

Represent Car-y-Mor positively to customers, sharing our story and products with enthusiasm.

Health, Safety & Compliance:

Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment across all areas.

Follow all food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.

Report equipment faults, health hazards, or production issues promptly.

General Responsibilities:

Flexibly support wider team operations, including farm, kitchen, and retail tasks as required.

Skills & Experience:

Previous experience in animal care, aquaculture, farming, production, or similar practical roles is desirable.

Comfortable with active, physical work, both indoors and outdoors.

Awareness of animal welfare, food hygiene, and health & safety practices (training provided).

Full UK driving licence (essential).

Must be aged 21 or over for insurance purposes.

Basic IT skills for recording data are useful.

Welsh speaking is a bonus but not required.

Experience & Qualifications:

Prior hands-on work experience in production, farm, kitchen, or retail environments is an advantage.

Good communication and team collaboration skills.

Physically fit to perform practical duties (standing, lifting, carrying reasonable loads).

Level 2 Food Hygiene certificate (desirable but training provided if necessary).

Comprehensive on-the-job training across farm, kitchen, and retail operations.

Involvement in the setup and evolution of our Sied-y-Mor production and retail facilities.

Mentoring and support from experienced farm, kitchen, and retail team leads.

Pay: 13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 16 - 37.5 per week
