Job Description

Borthwick castle is an incomparable 15th Century Scottish keep - the only one of its ilk in private hands across all of Europe. It is now the most stunning of venues, complete with 12 bed chambers and room for 85 guests, available for exclusive private hire. Exclusive hire includes three magnificent public rooms: The Garrison, The State Room and The Great Hall which can be used for ceremonies, receptions, dining, dancing and activities. For events, the maximum number of guests in the public rooms is 70. The Castle has 10 elegant bed chambers sleeping up to 20 guests and, next to the castle, Crookston Cottage which can sleep a further 4 guests and the newly refurbished Gatehouse can sleep 2 guests.

The role

The role of part time/weekend housekeeper, or Castlekeeper as we like to refer, if one that we class of great importance. Castlekeepers are the maintainers or our exceptional and unique building that we are so proud of. You will join a small, friendly team that values their roles in being part of such a special place.

Your job responsibilities will include: -

Maintaining our public spaces to standards throughout the day, helping turn these spaces around after guest use. -

Periodically maintaining public toilets throughout the day during events.

Reporting any defects or concerns to the head housekeeper so that they can be repaired. -

Turning down and servicing guest bedrooms over multi day events.

Stripping bedrooms of linen and rubbish after checkout.

The hourly rate is 12.21, generally we will require Saturday and Sunday work during the day. On occasion we may ask that you work further days but this will be confirmed in advance and is not compulsory. Work is excellent if you are looking to do in addition to a full time or second job.

Weekly hours can be agreed upon depending on preference.

Previous housekeeping experience is preferred but is not compulsory.
