Summary & Responsibilities

We are currently looking for a

Weighbridge Operator

to join our team based at our Ellel Quarry site in Lancaster.

This is a key operational role responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant running of the weighbridge, ensuring all inbound and outbound vehicles are managed in compliance with the law, permits and company procedures

About the role

As the Weighbridge Operator you will be a vital part of the team, overseeing day-to-day delivery and dispatch operations. You will require the the highest standards of health and safety, quality, and environmental compliance, while driving operational performance and cost control with continuous improvement.

In the role of

Weighbridge Operator

you will specifically focus on operational tasks including:

Operating the weighbridge

: Accurately recording the weight of incoming and outgoing vehicles carrying waste and aggregate materials.

Documentation and compliance

: Managing weighbridge tickets, waste transfer notes, and other compliance records in accordance with legal guidelines (e.g., Duty of Care regulations).

Data entry and administration

: Inputting data into internal systems and assisting with general office duties like answering phones and using spreadsheets.

Health and safety

: Ensuring all site health and safety policies are followed and that visitors have the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).

Customer service

: Providing a professional and friendly front-line service to drivers, visitors, and hauliers.

Traffic management

: Safely directing vehicle movements within the weighbridge and site area.

Required skills and Qualifications

Previous experience operating a weighbridge, or experience in a waste/recycling or similar process environment, is highly advantageous, though training is provided. Strong understanding and approach to health and safety. Good IT skills, including experience with data systems and Excel. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Attention to detail and basic maths skills. Flexibility and willingness to undertake other site roles as required.
