Job Description

An opportunity has arisen for two Welders to join the Production team. This role involves performing high-integrity welds on pressure vessels and associated components, working to strict quality and safety standards.

This position is full-time, based in Newbie and reports to the Pressure Systems Supervisor.

Key Objectives



To produce consistent level of high-quality welded joints on various products, while utilising a diverse range of welding processes & techniques. These are subjected to strenuous inspection with U/T, X-Ray & MPI techniques.

Main Tasks/Responsibilities



Perform high-integrity welding on pressure vessels, boilers, and associated pipework using GTAW, SMAW, and/or FCAW processes. Work to detailed welding procedure specifications (WPS), ensuring full compliance with ASME, EN, or other relevant codes. Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld maps, and isometric drawings. Prepare and inspect workpieces for welding, including cleaning, bevelling, and fitting. Conduct visual inspections of completed welds and assist with NDT preparations (e.g., radiography, ultrasonic). Maintain accurate weld logs, traceability, and quality documentation. Participate actively in safety briefings, toolbox talks, and permit-to-work systems (hot work, confined space, etc). Report non-conformances, equipment issues, or safety hazards immediately to supervision. Work closely with fitters, inspectors, and QA/QC personnel to meet quality and delivery expectations.

Skills and Qualities Desirable from Post Holder



Proven experience welding pressure-retaining components in a heavy industrial or boiler manufacturing environment. Demonstrated ability to pass coded weld tests on carbon steel and alloy materials (butt joints, pipe-to-pipe, pipe-to-plate, etc.). Familiarity with working in safety-critical environments, including confined spaces and elevated work platforms. Strong understanding of welding symbols, procedures, and documentation Additional welding certifications in GTAW, SMAW, or FCAW on exotic materials (e.g., stainless steel, chrome-moly). Valid confined space entry certification, hot work permit training, or CSCS/CCNSG card. Familiarity with pressure testing, heat treatment, or PWHT processes. Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to weld quality and safety. Ability to work independently and as part of a high-performing team. Strong communication skills and understanding of quality assurance requirements. Reliability, discipline, and professionalism in a safety-critical manufacturing environment.

Pay: 16.40 per hour
