About the role..



The core responsibility of this role is to work as a MIG/MAG Welder in a state-of-the-art facility as part of a dedicated team to manufacture equipment for the defense industry. This is an opportunity to join a world class organisation, delivering a secured long-term contract to the MOD. Operators will be required to fabricate components adhering to engineering drawings and work instructions. The day-to-day duties of this role include, but are not limited to:

Complying with the Environmental, Health and Safety Policy and identify health and safety hazards prior to the commencement of work

Welding using Mig / MAG welding processes on Armour plates

Reporting, via approved Maintenance Reporting Procedures, any equipment fault or unusual occurrence.

Using drawings, work instructions to complete all tasks and ensure through visual / non-destructive inspection that the welded finished component conforms to the drawing.

Using hand tools and the appropriate measuring instruments to the task.

Completing European qualification of welder approval tests on a regular basis.

Ensuring their personal safety and the safety of all other employees is not compromised by their actions and to apply all applicable safety requirements to comply with the regulatory agencies.

Booking of hours performing duties on a MRP (Materials Requirements Planning) system, SAP.

What we need from you..



We need you to have completed a Recognised Time Served Apprenticeship in Welding or a relevant discipline and to have completed an NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline or equivalent. We need you to hold Welding qualifications to ISO 9606 parts 1 and/or 2, having ISO 14732 is desirable. We also need you to have previous experience of practical welding/fitting in a heavy manufacturing or fabrication environment.
