Gilchrist Steels Ltd. is a small business in based in Busby providing a wide range of steel fabrications.

We mainly manufacture small structural steel jobs and steelwork for the marine industry and have a great relationship with existing customers meaning we get a lot of repeat business.

The products we manufacture get distributed globally.

We only work on mild steel and use mag welding.

We are predominatly workshop based but sometimes have a requirement to visit sites.

We offer free electric vehicle charging on our premises.

We are seeking a skilled, reliable welder/fabricator to join our team, with experience in structural steelwork and plate work.

The successful candidate would need to be proficient in mag welding and be competent enought to pass 1 butt weld test and 1 fillet weld test. General tasks involve marking out, dressing/deburring, assembly of components, welding, drilling, punching Majority of the work is carried out in a heated workshop but there can be a small requirement to carry out site works from time to time. Hours are 0800-1630 on a Monday-Thursday and 0800-1515 Friday. We frequently have over time on offer typically an extra 3 hours on a Monday and Tuesday at time and a half, and a Sunday shift at Double time. Significant performance bonus paid annually.
