About the role
As the Welding Coordinator you will be responsible for developing and maintaining Inspection Test Plans (ITPs), Route Cards, welding parameters, work instructions, and Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS). A key part of the role involves leading the development, testing, and formal approval of Procedure Qualification Records (PQRs). You will also oversee the preparation and distribution of welding documentation to production teams, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to quality standards throughout the production process.
What we're looking for
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Welding Coordinator with a strong background in welding processes and technical support. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing and reviewing welding documentation, coordinating inspections and non-destructive testing (NDT), and ensuring all welding activities meet client specifications and project requirements. You should be confident in interpreting technical drawings, communicating effectively with cross-functional teams, and providing guidance on welding-related matters.
Skills and Experience
External certification in relevant technical or quality discipline. IWS/T/E would be desirable.
Experience in coordinating welding and inspection activities in a production environment, CSWIP 3.0/3.1/3.2 would be desirable.
Excellent knowledge of welding quality management i.e. ISO 3832-2
A good understanding of Non-Destructive Examination (NDE) methods and application.
Previous experience in a high regulated industry (nuclear, defence, oil & gas etc.)
Technical knowledge of welding procedures, manual and mechanised, across a range of applications.
Ability to read engineering drawings and understand the meaning e.g. critical dimensions, weld identification, weld symbols
Ability to manage time and workload effectively
Good communication skills, both written and oral
Presenting ideas and results to different stakeholders across the business including staff and senior management
Ability to understand and enforce company procedures and policies
Good Knowledge of Mechanical Welding an advantage
Where will you be working?
You will be based at Westway Business Park, Renfrew. Westway is Scotland's largest full enclosed industrial park, the park is currently home to Malin Marine Services and our sister company Malin Equipment.
