Full Time / 37 Hours Per Week / Permanent
Join our Revenues, Benefits & Transactional Finance Service, jointly leading the city's Welfare & Advice team to support the most vulnerable households access support and citywide social welfare advice related support.
Within the wider Service is two support teams: The new Discretionary Awards Team delivering the Household Support Fund, Community Support Grants and this year help with rent and Council Tax, and the Welfare Rights Service, offering professional and technical social welfare benefit appeal representation. Both consist of two team leaders, each with a team of officers all working towards one common goal - ensuring that the delivery of an efficient, effective and customer focused service.
This is a permanent contract working 37 hours a week working alongside the current Welfare & Advice Manager Wed-Fri, You'll have flexibility in hybrid working being both office based, at City Hall or working remotely from home to suit your needs.
Your Role
Within this role, you'll act as a joint lead for the commissioning and delivery for citywide Social Welfare and Advice Related services.
You'll be responsible for jointly managing two team leaders within the service; leading delivery of contracts, meeting policy aims, ensuring equitable access and fund dispersal, leading an ambitious programme of reform on how discretionary welfare benefits support are delivered, and resolving any issues which arise.
As a key member of the RCS management team, reporting to the Head of Service, working alongside your job share partner Marie Galton. You'll liaise with colleagues across all levels of the service as well as colleagues across a range of internal and external stakeholders.
What you'll need
You'll be able to demonstrate that you have a natural talent for leading people. Using excellent budget analysis skills as well as your experience of contract management, policy drafting, project planning and leading people in a rapidly changing business processes, you'll successfully oversee the strategic crisis support of the teams under your areas of responsibility. As a great team player, you'll develop positive trusting relationships within and outside the team, treating people with fairness and respect.
