The Welfare Cleaner is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene across all site welfare facilities, ensuring a safe, tidy, and pleasant working environment for all personnel on site. This includes cleaning and replenishing welfare areas such as canteens, toilets, drying rooms, and site offices in line with company and health & safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Clean and sanitize all welfare facilities including:
Toilets, washrooms, and showers
Canteens and kitchen areas
Offices, meeting rooms, and rest areas
Drying rooms and locker areas
Replenish consumables (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels, etc.) as required.
Empty waste bins and ensure correct segregation and disposal of waste.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wipe down surfaces to maintain cleanliness.
Report any maintenance issues, damage, or supply shortages to the Site Manager.
Follow site health and safety rules and use cleaning chemicals and PPE correctly.
Assist in maintaining site COVID-19 or other hygiene protocols when required.
Maintain cleaning records and complete any required checklists or logs.
Skills and Experience
Essential:
Previous cleaning experience (preferably on a construction or industrial site).
Understanding of cleaning chemicals and safe handling procedures (COSHH awareness).
Good attention to detail and ability to work independently.
Reliable, punctual, and self-motivated.
Good communication and teamwork skills.
Desirable:
Valid CSCS card (if required by site).
Experience working within a construction or similar environment.
Basic Health & Safety awareness training.
Physical Requirements
Ability to perform manual cleaning tasks, including bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
Comfortable working in varying site conditions (outdoor and indoor welfare units).

The role is vital in maintaining workforce wellbeing and supporting site productivity by ensuring welfare and office areas are kept to a consistently high standard of cleanliness and hygiene.
Key Responsibilities
Site & Welfare Accommodation Areas
Sweep, mop, and clean all welfare areas, including canteens, changing rooms, drying rooms, and corridors.
Clean and sanitise toilet and shower facilities to maintain high hygiene standards.
Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels of welfare consumables (e.g., soap, paper towels, toilet rolls, cleaning materials).
Ensure waste is disposed of in accordance with site waste management procedures.
Work in compliance with
COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Assessments
, ensuring safe use, storage, and disposal of cleaning chemicals.
Project Offices
Clean and tidy office areas daily, including desks, worktops, meeting rooms, and communal spaces.
Collect cups, dishes, and cutlery.
Vacuum office floors and spot clean surfaces as required.
Maintain office hygiene standards in accordance with site policies and environmental requirements.
General Duties
Manage stock of cleaning consumables and submit supply requests through the site Administrator or Logistics Supervisor.
Report any maintenance issues, damaged facilities, or unsafe conditions immediately.
Work in accordance with site
Health, Safety, Environmental, and Fire Safety procedures
.
Participate in daily activity briefings (DABs) and toolbox talks as required.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
The Welfare Operative must:
