The Welfare Rights Advisor plays a crucial role in providing support and guidance to individuals seeking assistance with welfare rights and entitlements. This position requires a compassionate individual who can effectively communicate complex information and advocate for clients' needs. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team to ensure clients receive the necessary support.
Main Duties and Responsibilities :
To advise members of the public in relation to welfare benefits, PIP DLA Universal Credits and related matters by face-to-face appointment at the Resource Centre, by telephone and by e-mail.
To record in a timely manner all details of meetings and discussions using the AdvicePro recording system
To maintain the absolute confidentiality of client details including paper and computer records of discussions
To keep up-to-date with changes to social security benefits
To attend training as necessary
To adhere to standards of service and other requirements set by Derry City & Strabane District Council and other funders
To adhere to Health & Safety and other relevant policies
