We have recently updated this post to work more collaboratively with our internal and external parties. The job entails supporting the team to ensure that our clients benefits are maximised. You will also provide advice to the team and keep up to date with new government legislation on welfare benefits that may advantageous or disadvantageous to our clients, The successful candidate will need to have experience working in the Welfare benefits environment, they will need knowledge and experience of mandatory reconsideration and tribunal appeals. Your focus will need to be on the following areas;
Completing complex benefit forms e.g. Personal Independent Payments, Universal Credit
Create new working relationships between internal benefit advisors, DWP and the local Jobcentres
Directly work with and refer applications to the Department of Works and Pension on welfare benefit issues for individual clients
Provide welfare benefit training to the Client Affairs Team and the Income team as and when required.
The post holder will be required to, as and when visit residents in their own home or at local authority hubs
Operate, maintain, and update databases and systems used in the team in a systematic, thorough, timely and accurate manner, ensuring that the section's procedures are complied with
A good understanding and experience of using Microsoft applications
