Fife Cultural Trust (OnFife) has been awarded funding from Museums Galleries Scotland (MGS) Creative Minds fund to work with Lynebank Hospital, Dunfermline offering activities and creative workshops inspired by our museum collections at Dunfermline Carnegie Library & Galleries (DCLG) specifically designed for people experiencing anxiety and social isolation.

We want to create a welcoming, social space at DCLG where everyone feels included and where participants can use creativity and heritage to help to reduce their anxiety symptoms and feelings of loneliness.

There will be six blocks in total between August 2025 and October 2026, delivered in 6-week sessions (6 weeks per 'block'). We want to involve participants in the first 6-week block in shaping the themes and activities of subsequent blocks.

Facilitator

We are seeking an experienced, creative facilitator who can design, lead and support our

first

workshop series (6 weeks) to introduce participants to DCLG using mindfulness techniques, starting on mid-August weekly through to late September/early October 2025.

Your brief will include:

- Your own familiarisation with DCLG (the venue), the collections (museum galleries), the special temporary exhibitions, our library and Local Studies provision - and our staff

- Identify opportunities to engage, over a six-week period, with people experiencing anxiety and/or social isolation through engagement with the venue, collections and services

- Design activities for each session (six in total) and identify any resources, materials, etc required for the sessions (budget available)

- Work with OnFife staff to agree promotional material advertising your workshop series (budget available for print, etc)

- Deliver one session per week over six-week period, based at DCLG

- Work with OnFife staff to introduce and use evaluation methodologies to capture the impact of your sessions on participants

- Work with OnFife staff and participants to gather their feedback and suggestions for future workshop sessions (these will be advertised as a separate Brief once themes and content have been identified)

About You

You will be an experienced, creative facilitator who can demonstrate evidence of previous engagement work with adults (aged 16+) who have experienced mental health issues, anxiety, depression, social isolation or other issues impacting their wellbeing. It could be advantageous (but is not essential) if you also have experience of working with people with autism, learning disabilities or who identify as neuro-divergent.

You will have to provide evidence of Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme membership as your role will be working with protected adults.

You will have experience of workshop design and delivery with a hands-on, flexible approach, responsive to the needs and interests of participants in your workshops.

You will demonstrate empathy and recognition of the barriers some participants may face in accessing activities in unfamiliar public spaces and the challenges they may experience in meeting new people or trying out new activities.

You will be an organised individual, capable to managing your time and resources available to you. As this is a freelance opportunity you will be responsible for your own Income Tax, National Insurance and Pension provision.

We require you to adhere to OnFife policies governing Data Protection, confidentiality regarding any personal information participants may share with you and that you will be able to under risk assessments and comply with OnFife Risk Assessments and Health & Safety policies for the work you are commissioned to carry out.

Health & Safety of staff, members of the public and workshop participants in relation to fire evacuation or other emergency procedures will be the responsibility of DCLG venue staff.

Budget

We would offer a fee based on daily rate of 280 (140 half day) totalling 1,020 for six week sessions (half day) to include your travel and subsistence and three days preparation and delivery time. In addition we have a small budget for materials. A payment schedule would be agreed in advance and payment would be on receipt of an invoice. If you have not previously worked with OnFife we would need to add you to our list of Suppliers.
