Salary 30,000 per annum (Pro rata 21,000 per annum)



The

Wellbeing & Emotional Support Practitioner

will work with children and young people providing early intervention and preventative emotional wellbeing and mental health support. Providing children and young people with the skills and techniques to better manage their own emotional wellbeing and improve their confidence and self-esteem. This will result in children and young people who cope better with stress, anxiety and life challenges, to enable them to participate fully in life.

The

Wellbeing & Emotional Support Practitioner

will provide 1:1 and group interventions for children who require extra support with: understanding and managing strong emotions, processing traumatic events, attachment difficulties, anxiety, self-esteem, and family relationships, to name just a few.

Our approach is trauma informed and works with the understanding that behaviours and emotions, especially difficult ones, are often an understandable response to a challenging situation. We focus on the strengths of young people and the small things we can do every day to support our wellbeing.

1:1 and group interventions are to be delivered in a variety of settings including the CYP school, in the community or at a youth club.

Who we're looking for?



We are looking for someone with experience of working with children and young people ideally in a behavioural change or support role context.

You will have a proven ability to identify and understand individual needs and the skills required to inspire change, build rapport and be creative in your approach. Along with ability to equip children & young people with tools and techniques to manage low level mental ill health, improve their confidence and create a personalised plan to address issues that are impacting negatively on their lives.

The practitioner must have a passion for ensuring children and young people have access to the support and interventions needed to improve their lives and ensure that their best interests are at the heart of everything you do. Main tasks



Provide targeted non-intrusive therapeutic 1:1 and group support for children and young people with low level mental health and emotional wellbeing concerns. To deliver a trauma informed approach, recognising the signs and symptoms of trauma in children and young people and their support networks To develop positive relationships with children and young people and where appropriate their families and support network, encouraging active engagement and participation. To act as an advocate for children and young people to ensure their voice is heard. To motivate, encourage and work creatively to engage children and young people and where appropriate their families/support network to improve outcomes. To manage and maintain a case load. To undertake initial assessments, jointly identify goals and develop personalised plans with individuals, identifying support needs to ensure maximum engagement in improving health and well-being. To coordinate delivery of interventions and positive activities at times and in places that are accessible for young people and their families/support network. To maintain accurate records and produce regular reports for the monitoring requirements. To assist with the delivery of universal and targeted services for children and young people. To signpost, and where appropriate refer, parents to other services delivered by other agencies. To record and retain appropriately all contact and activities with service users as required for monitoring and evaluation purposes. Ensuring at all times confidentiality and professional boundaries are maintained. To share information and concerns with their line manager and/or other appropriate staff, or with parents as appropriate to support children and their families and to adhere to safeguarding and child protection policies in all aspects of their role To work flexibly as may be required by the needs of the service and carry out any other reasonable duties as required To attend meetings that involve service users, partner agencies and our staff, ensuring appropriate preparation to represent the views and needs of service users Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practices, including listening to seldom heard voices. To be prepared to use and contribute to regular supervision and be committed to personal development of skills and abilities
