Are you passionate about the Welsh Language? Then, we have an exciting opportunity for a Welsh Language Policy Officer. In this role, you will lead the promotion of the use of the Welsh language in Newport, both within Newport City Council and local communities.

Working as part of the Council's Policy and Partnership Team, you will work with the Senior Equalities Officer to engage with stakeholders, including staff at all levels, elected Members, partners and the public, to ensure commitment to the Welsh Language Strategy, compliance with the Welsh Language Standards and the delivery of a bilingual public service.

As part of our team, you will support the Council's implementation of the Welsh Language Standards, working with the equalities team and Policy and Partnership Manager to research, design, implement, and evaluate projects that assist with the delivery of Newport City Council's Welsh Language strategy and provide expertise to the organisation.

Candidates will have detailed knowledge of Welsh language and Equalities legislation, including the Welsh Language (Wales) Measure 2011 and Equality Act 2010, along with a working knowledge of the Well-Being of Future Generations Act.

The post holder will support all Council departments, including education staff, along with community groups and projects to promote the use of Welsh across the City, so experience of engagement and partnership with various stakeholders is essential.
