What you'll be doing...
Showcase your whisky knowledge and charisma by actively engaging travellers and converting interest into sales
Build trusted relationships with High Net Worth and Collector clients, both inside and outside the airport

ROLE SUMMARY
We're looking for a true whisky enthusiast to represent our award-winning single malts at Edinburgh Airport, including Glengoyne, Tamdhu, Rosebank and Smokehead.
The ideal candidate will combine deep whisky knowledge with a natural flair for selling, using their charisma and expertise to actively engage travellers and convert interest into sales across Ian Macleod's premium portfolio.
Along with this they will develop personal and trusted relationships with High Net Worth (HNW) and Collector clients, allowing us to leverage these relationships within and outside of the airport environment.
The Role will report to the Business Development Manager (Travel Retail) but will also require close liaison with the Avolta / World Duty Free store team.
ROLE DESCRIPTION
Responsibilities
Key Day to Day Activities
Passenger Engagement & Retail Sales (70%)
Deliver a high standard of customer service to every passenger, anticipating and responding to potential questions on the brand, product range and purchase fulfilment.
Drive Sales with purpose; achieve targets and look for opportunities to exceed and outperform key metrics as set by the Business Development Manager (BDM).
Develop a network of HNW/Collector clients, sharing these with BDM. Maintain close contact with these influential and important customers, then agree a communication plan with the BDM.
Utilise support materials and marketing promotions to engage passengers and identify opportunities for upselling.
Engage passengers with product sampling (as per store & airport guidelines) and manage recording of sampling stock per shift.
Provide specific serve suggestions for key lines, which can alternate depending on season/monthly focus.
Maintain and develop knowledge of the brands, key stories, and messages about the brand/products through attendance at training and own research / curiosity about the wider Ian Macleod range.
Upsell agreed focus products via merchandising and sampling.
Represent Ian Macleod Distillers with professionalism, warmth and pride in our quality standards.
Be an Ian Macleod Ambassador within the airport store and bring the brand personality to life for customers.
Day to Day Activities - Admin and Ops (30%)
Maintain clean, well-stocked, and fully operational branded displays, including Wall Bay and Podium.
Coordinate with Avolta store team to manage daily retail and tasting stock needs. Manage stock levels and submit any requests to line manager in a timely manner to ensure a plentiful supply.
Escalate retail and tasting stock issues to line manager.
Support with the submission of daily sales reports, along with numbers of samples dispensed, and any relevant customer feedback to the line manager.
Adhere to IMD polices and administration requirements including Financial, HR, IT, Health & Safety and Data Protection requirements.
Adhere to World Duty Free and Edinburgh Airport policies including Health & Safety and Data Protection requirements.
Work with line manager to ensure the retail experience is on brand and that there is a customer centric approach to all retail touch points.
Create memorable customer experiences by delivering exceptional service, sharing product knowledge, and building genuine connections.
Take direction and guidance from line manager as required.
