About this role:





Wells is looking for an experienced Senior Lead Business Control Officer with expertise in CB and CIB International Operations and knowledge of related regulatory environments and industry best practices.



In the Wholesale Operations Control team, the primary focus is on risk and control management, collaborating closely with business leaders to uphold the Risk Management Framework. This involves activities like RCSA, Issues Management, Governance, and Incident remediation to ensure the effectiveness of internal controls, processes, and procedures. The team engages with executive management to grasp the risks, exposures, and trends affecting the business, providing essential insights for decision-making. Additionally, they contribute to change projects and initiatives by offering risk awareness and control solutions.



This role specifically entails overseeing control coverage for CB and CIB International Operations teams, aligning with regional priorities, coordinating with BCM teams globally, and ensuring accurate reporting of the International Operations profile. The successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership qualities, effective relationship management, and the ability to navigate a complex corporate environment. They must possess a sense of urgency, a drive for results, and take personal accountability for their work.



Working closely with senior leaders in Wholesale Control, Wholesale Operations, support functions, and risk partners, the candidate will play a crucial role in developing and implementing risk management strategies for the company. This position demands exceptional communication skills, influential abilities, strategic vision, and a track record of successful execution in dynamic organizational settings.



In this role, you will:

Act as an advisor to more business leaders and process owners in developing risk mitigation strategies for complex and highly integrated business specific risk across different business lines Partner with US and Global BCM resources aligned to business coverage to ensure that the International Operations risk profile is accurately reproted. Attend, contribute and support regional governance routines as applicable. Provide direct support to the Head of Wholesale International Operations for bespoke needs and regional control priorities. Monitor, measure, evaluate, and report impact of decisions and business controls to the relevant business group and enterprise function Lead the strategy and resolution of highly complex current and emerging risks requiring in depth evaluation across multiple areas or the enterprise, as well as good understanding of financial crimes, operational risk, audit, legal, credit risk, market risk, IT systems security, and business process management Provide vision, direction, and expertise to more experienced leaders on implementing innovative and significant business solutions for highly complex risks associated with business operations Lead and mentor Control Management project or virtual teams Engage with all levels of roles across the business group, and serve as an experienced advisor in designing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, business processes, and controls that mitigate risks and address regulatory requirements

Required Qualifications:

Experience in Risk Management or Financial Services industry, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.

Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge and understanding of internal controls and internal control policy. Experience with RCSA, risk/control identification and assessment, and enterprise risk frameworks Strong domain knowledge of CB and CIB International Operations inclusive of related regulatory environments and market best practices. Ability to synthesize data and/or observations from a variety of, often disparate and unconnected, sources, deliver succinct summaries (both verbal and written), and enact responses quickly. Exceptional interpersonal and relationship building skills to effectively influence all organizational and leadership levels, where flexibility, collaboration, and adaptability are a must. Highly organized and proactive with demonstrated ability to assess, exercise independent judgment, apply prudent risk management principles, prioritize work to meet deadlines, and proactively escalate when necessary. Ability to be flexible and adjust plans quickly to adapt to changing business needs. Hands on style; proven ability to structure tasks or projects, execute and achieve targeted results and develop and manage associated goals and plans. Intellectual curiosity with proven ability to learn quickly through others as well as to conduct their own research and analysis.
