Job Description

We are an independent hybrid wine merchant. That means we operate as both a wine shop and a wine bar.

We are looking for a part-time member of staff to join our small team on Fridays and Saturdays, covering the three main areas of the business: retail, bar, and cheese counter.

Hours of work per week will be between 10 and 14. Additional hours will be available from time to time to cover leave, sickness, and events.

We are looking for someone with experience of working in a bar, who thrives in a fast-paced hospitality environment, and is comfortable talking to our customers about wine.

For this role it is essential that you have an interest in wine. The ideal candidate will be passionate about both wine and cheese, and be interested in studying towards WSET qualifications in the future.

Main duties will include:

Customer service & sales (guiding customers with product choices, ability to discuss in-depth and advise on wine purchases at all levels, ability to build rapport with local customers)

Serving wine by the glass, bottle and in wine flights for our drink-in customers

Day to day operations (daily opening and closing of the premises, display and merchandising)

Prepping online orders

Maintaining a clean and safe work environment

All aspects of the cheese counter including: preparing and serving sharing boards; cutting, weighing and wrapping of retail cheese sales; adherence to food safety protocols

Assisting with receiving wine deliveries

General admin tasks (assisting with content on the website, responding to customer enquiries)

Closing date for applications is Sunday 1st February. Interviews week commencing 2nd February, with a proposed start date of Friday 13th February.
