Role Summary:
As a WINTEL Engineer at

, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and evolving the company's Windows-based infrastructure. You will be part of a team responsible for managing Windows servers, virtualisation platforms, and associated enterprise systems to ensure performance, security, and ensuring high availability globally across the enterprise. You'll work closely with our Infrastructure, Security and Technical Support teams to deliver robust IT services that support critical business operations in a highly regulated environment.

Based at our Manchester office; Exchange Quay, M5 3EF.

Occasional travel may be required for project meetings or stakeholder engagements.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer, configure, and support Microsoft Windows Server 2016 to 2022 environments.
Maintain Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP and certificate services across multiple domains.
Support virtual infrastructure including VMware vSphere and Citrix DaaS / XenServer.
Assist in the implementation and monitoring of disaster recovery solutions and backup strategies.
Ensure compliance with internal security policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, ISO27001, PCI DSS v4.0).
Provide 3rd line support and root cause analysis for complex issues.
Write PowerShell scripts to automate and streamline administrative tasks.
Document system configurations, changes and standard operating procedures.
Participate in infrastructure projects, including system upgrades, migrations and cloud integration.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Minimum 3-5 years in a WINTEL or Systems Engineering role within an enterprise or regulated environment.
Proven expertise in managing Windows Server platforms and Active Directory.
Strong experience with VMware, HyperV, Citrix Virtual Apps/Desktops, Xen hypervisor technologies.
Exposure to 'Cyber Essentials plus'.
Exposure to cloud services (Microsoft Azure, Purview, Hybrid environments).
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or Citrix certification (e.g., CCA-V).
Desired Skills and Experience:
Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting, Microsoft Exchange and O365 administration.
Familiarity with monitoring, alerting, and backup tools (e.g. Graylog, Zabbix, Arcserve, Rubrik, Veeam).
Solid understanding of networking basics (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls).
Microsoft Certified (e.g., MCSA, MCSE or Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate).
Experience working in financial services, legal, or debt recovery sectors.
Experience with 'Salesforce'
Experienced in working with VMWare, HyperV and containerised virtualised environments.
Experience of Ansible, Terraform or similar mass automation tools.
Awareness of security frameworks and ITIL best practices.
Strong problem-solving, analytical and writing skills.
Comfortable working independently or as part of a team.
Training / Coaching end-users in Microsoft best practices.
