You'll be joining our

Highways maintenance

team, as the UK's number one highway maintenance contractor, our teams use the latest innovations to create effective solutions. We offer a range of services including planned and reactive maintenance and highway improvement schemes.



We at M Group Highways are looking for part time HGV Cat C (Class 2) drivers, with CPC, to work on the Wiltshire Highways Maintenance contract as Winter Maintenance drivers. The drivers will be appointed on a temporary contract to cover the Winter Maintenance season from November 2025 until April 2026. We are looking for suitable candidates to work on a zero hours contract basis.

What will you be doing?





+ To drive a Winter Maintenance Gritting Vehicle for the duration of the winter maintenance season, being allocated to a rota within the Wiltshire area.
+ To be on standby alternate weeks i.e. one week on standby followed by one week off throughout the winter maintenance season.
+ To undertake the gritting of the roads on your allocated route and all the associated activities required to deliver the Winter Service.
+ To arrive at the designated Highways Depot, within 60 minutes from receiving the gritting instruction


The Winter Maintenance Season will commence on the 1st November 2025 and will finish on the 31st March 2026. Drivers must commit to being on standby alternate weeks for the duration of the service. A week starts at 07.45 on the Friday and finishes at 07.45 am the following Friday. When you are on Standby, you can be called out at any time to undertake a grit run.



What you'll bring





+ A full UK driving licence with HGV Class 2 (category C) entitlement and a full CPC is essential.
+ A valid Winter Maintenance qualification or experience. If, however, training is required, training for the City and Guilds qualification will be arranged and the above mentioned temporary contract will be extended to cover this.
