The Role



To support the Senior Hampshire Squad with all cricket coaching requirements across the annual performance cycle, acting as Senior Head Coach when required and Co-Head Coach for Hampshire 2nd XI matches. Lead the development and delivery of the Hampshire Batting Strategy, providing specialist coaching and individual development plans for all senior and high-potential batters across the Hampshire and Vipers performance pathways.

Manage and coordinate the work of support batting coaches, ensuring consistent technical, tactical, physical, and analytical development standards. Contribute to Hampshire's wider commitment to educate, influence, and nurture cricket talent across the region.

Key Responsibilities



Support the senior Hampshire squad with coaching across the annual cycle, including winter and summer programmes.

Undertake Senior Head Coach duties in their absence and co-lead Hampshire 2nd XI matches. Deliver 1-2-1 and small group specialist batting coaching for senior players and high-potential Academy, EPP, and CAG players. Develop and implement Hampshire batting strategies for senior and Academy players. Lead Hampshire batting sessions for training and matches, overseeing deployment of support batting coaches. Ensure individual action plans for all batters covering technical, tactical, physical, and analytical performance elements. Support talent identification and player development, sharing best practice and mentoring emerging players across the regional pathway. Manage administrative duties and maintain effective communication with players, counties and ECB. Collaborate with the Head of Women's Cricket and Senior Head Coach to plan schedules and working hours.

Experience and Qualifications



Essential:



Level 3 Coaching Accreditation (minimum) and or/a desire to work towards Level 4 Demonstrates the ability to meet deadlines, communicate clearly, and adapt to changing demands while working effectively as part of a team. Possesses strong personal values, with evidence of alignment to cricket's principles of accountability, excellence, honesty, trust, and teamwork. Has effective people-management skills with the ability to motivate, support, and lead others. Experienced in coaching and engaging with athletes across a range of ages, including working with female players with a solid understanding of the unique requirements. Shows high levels of accountability, discipline, motivation, and a strong work ethic. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including forms. Excel and outlook. Holds up-to-date Safeguarding and Protecting Children, First Aid, and DBS certifications. Willing and able to work flexible hours across all days of the week. Holds a full, valid UK driving licence and UK minibus (MIDAS) driving licence

Hours Of Work



40 hour per week contract across a calendar year with hours that will fluctuate by season. Spring and summer being the heaviest period of workload, offset against a quiet autumn and less demanding winter. Hours to be agreed by Head of Women's Cricket and Senior Head Coach in line with programme demand.

Place Of Work



The Team are based at Utilita Bowl & Hilton Southampton - Utilita Bowl, Botley Road, West End, Southampton, SO30 3XH, however the role will require extensive UK and possible overseas travel.
