Wood Machinist
Lydwood's main production is the manufacture of medium to large batches of wooden components including point of sale display units, furniture components, assembled boxes and much more.
These are manufactured from hardwoods, softwoods and other sheet materials such as MDF, chipboard and plywood.
Many varied operations and machines are used in the production processes across a range of products.
The duties of a "Wood Machinist" are varied but would include repetitive work both by hand and using machinery in small to large batches of items. Due to the small size of the company applicants would be expected to be flexible and be prepared to work in different areas of the factory.
Training will always be given as necessary, although applicants experienced in manufacturing, machinery or woodworking is preferred. All applicants will be trained in-house, regardless of experience.
Duties would include:
- Setting and/or operation of machinery including:
Band resaw,
Cross Cut Saws,
Dimension and Panel Saws,
Spindle moulders,
Planer/thicknesser,
Four sided planer,
Drilling machines,
Dowel borers,
Sanding machines inc. drum sander, linishers, fladders etc.
Laser cutter/engraver
CNC routers
Edge banders (automatic and manual)
- Jointing of solid timber using biscuit jointer, dominos and hydraulic clamping press.
- Hand sanding and denibbing of machined components prior to lacquering and between coats of lacquer.
- Assembly work including stapling, drilling, screwing, gluing and fitting fixings.
- Packaging of components in cartons and/or onto pallets.
- Ensure high quality and within tolerances of components throughout all manufacturing processes.
- Experience of CNC Routing is desirable but not essential, including setting and operating CNC routers.
We are happy to train willing candidates who are enthusiastic to learn and have a hands on job. All ages and experience welcome.
Wage will depend with experience, and as skills are developed and training is completed, wage will increase.
Hours:
41 hours + per week.
Monday to Thursday: 7.30am - 5.00pm.
Fridays: 7.30am - 12.30pm
Overtime: Paid at time and a half (1 hours overtime per week as standard)
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: 12.25-17.50 per hour
Expected hours: 41 per week
